The Annual Census of Student Architecture And Design Thesis Projects
The Student Architecture and Design Initiative (SADI) is a non-profit
organization that will inventory, recognize, celebrate, and promote the
outstanding work of student architects and designers around the globe.
We have always enjoyed the creative and diligent thesis work of both undergraduate and graduate architecture and design
students. While some universities briefly post their annual student showcase, SADI intends to improve access and documentation by:
Systematically canvassing the work of thousands of students at more than 600 global institutions
Organizing and curating the collection to optimize search, research, and viewer enjoyment
Archiving collections to support longitudinal studies of student architecture trends and influences
Publishing annual abstracts of the best student work, both online and in print
Recognizing selected students and awarding cash prizes at the annual SADI ceremony
Promoting student projects for commissions and providing a nexus for employers
Architecture
and design thesis projects demand immense passion and creativity. These gems -- at turns daring, radical, naive, artistic, impractical, and beautiful -- are too
quickly discarded as students pursue more rigid career trajectories. We want to celebrate this work and demonstrate
its artistic contribution. The Student Architecture and Design
Initiative will be the definitive repository of academic architecture.
Our first Global Student Showcase launches in the Spring of 2010.
